Welcome from the Rector
Lyn Briggs grew up in a loving, faithful family in the Midwest — Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska. She graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She and her husband, Nathan, moved to Salt Lake in 1977. While their children were small she worked as a Medical Records Technician and a pharmacy technician at Holy Cross Hospital.
She served for 15 years as Parish Administrator at All Saints, SLC. It was there she came to realize she was called to the priesthood. In 2001 she entered seminary — beginning by taking Greek at the Salt Lake Seminary, then flew on weekends to the Episcopal Theological School at Claremont (where Mary June Nestler was dean). In 2005 she completed her seminary training at CDSP (The Church Divinity School of the Pacific) in Berkeley California. In 2006 she received her MDiv and was ordained to the transitional deaconates by Bishop Carolyn Irish.
Lyn has served recently as Curate, then Associate Rector at St. Paul's Church in SLC. She loves designing programs for children and shaping meaningful worship for all ages. She is passionate about christian formation and discipleship, teaching people to articulate their faith, and baseball.
Lyn and her husband have two grown daughters: Raleigh and Paige who both live in Seattle. And four cats at present.
